The Truth in Manowar

Slowly crossing as the river runs below
Never stopping for whats waiting soon will slow
And this last time looking back I'll see
My home for he awaits me reaching for my soul
He calls my name, and waves me on
The fallen one he stands in flame

I have always been a metalhead, but I didn't hear of The Kings of Steel until I was about 15. At that time, Marilyn Manson was starting to get big. I never did like that fag. It seemed to me that he was trying too hard to be spooky and scary, and I just felt that he was recycling Alice Cooper and Ziggy Stardust all over again. But, anyway, the first song I heard from Manowar was "Blood of My Enemies", and I was then immediately enrolled as a cadet in the Army of Immortals.

Well the life that he has given full of riches
And success has a price that I made good in blood to pay
And the light he now is showing
To guide my every footstep is insurance if I falter on my way

And what God has now forsaken and man has never seen
Are the riches of the underworld below
All my Years of earthly pleasures gave support unto the bridge
I now cross it giving him my soul

Around the time Manson's "Antichrist Superstar" came out, I was buying "Triumph of Steel" instead. I actually used "Achilles, Agony, And Ecstasy (In Eight Parts)" to estimate how long it would take me to get to wherever I was going. It was constantly in the tape deck of my shitty Ford Tempo. I think someone stole it, though, because one day, it was just gone. This happened a few weeks ago and I am still pissed because I don’t think they even make tapes anymore. Anyway, I know it takes all eight parts of that song to make it to my sister's house, and now I have to hum it instead... at the top of my lungs. So what if people look at me funny at the red lights? Fuck them too. I cannot bring myself to accept the vile lie that one of my friends got tired of my tape and threw it out, which is what my mom told me that she did when I asked her about it. All lies. You don't throw out a Manowar tape. "Achilles" is going to be played at my funeral.

Dark Lord, I summon thee
Demanding the sacred right to burn in hell,
Ride up to hells hot wind.
Face one more evil than thou, take my lustful soul,

Drink my blood as I drink yours,
Impale me on the horns of death
Cut off my head, release all my evil
Lucifer is king - Praise Satan

Fun fact: Manowar is so much better than Marilyn Manson.

All you have to do is sit down and listen to either "Hail to England" or "Fighting the World" next to "Mechanical Animals", or any other Manson album, and you'll see for yourself. Manowar's songs are blunt and they tell it like it is, goddamnit. I don’t need any objectivist cunt lip telling me he is the worm in my soul or some bullshit like that. I will listen to Joey DeMaio write about epic battles fought long ago to guard the Kingdom of Steel against the hoards of FALSE METAL followers (you) that wish nothing but destruction to the ones who are TRUE (me)!

Fun fact: Manowar is true metal.

Have you ever been to a Marilyn Manson concert, faithful readers? I have... I had to infiltrate the gathering of the armies of the FALSE. Let me tell you, it did NOT live up to the hype. No drugs were tossed to the crowed. No killing of puppies. No encouragement to go out there and FIGHT! Not one virgin was at the show, let alone was one slaughtered. What a disappointment. As for a Manowar show, they preach METAL. They fight against the evils of goth and emo up there on the stage, clad in their mighty armor of leather and fur. They slaughter the vaginas of women after their shows, baptizing them in the milk of METAL. In the dressing room they only eat mutton and only drink honey mead. For they are MANOWAR!

He is my provider
As I walk into the Void for eternity
I give to him my soul
I shall do his bidding
Obey him without question
Even walk among the living if I'm told.

Manowar got me reading the fantasy genre. They made me realize that the truth lies in escape, rather than reading about other people's damn misery. I loved "Lord of the Rings", and I am reading the old Robert E Howard "Conan" stories now. I can judge what makes a good fantasy book by asking myself, “Would Manowar sing about this?” If the answer is no, then the book sucks.

Come to think of it, the same goes for music.

Satan don't forsake me
I wait for you
Take me grant me wings
And as your messenger I'll fly.

A true metal band knows what it is to be true metal, and do not have to butter shit up to get fans. All true metal bands know the riddle of steel, as do all field commanders in the Army of Immortals, like I.

If you do not know, I feel sorry for you
