"The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you were able to literally jump into the pages of a book, this novel will surely give you an indelible impression.

Ms. Tuesday Next is part of the literary police force.  She’s rather tired of both the ongoing Crimean War and the “Who really wrote as Shakespeare” debates and has a healthy dislike of Jack Schitt, the weasel-like security director of Goliath the mega-corporation.

Chock-a-block with alternate planes, stolen manuscripts and character names that will make one think Mr. Fforde is probably one of the more clever people on the planet these days. 

The series promises to deliver more great British witticisms with more debates, name-plays and Goliath – who must approve the manuscript before publishing.

Caveat: Comprehension of text requires some literary knowledge.
