Dear Carmen,

First, I would like to thank your store for helping me find a dress on such short notice.  I met with Lupita yesterday and tried on a number of styles.  However, I must say I didn’t appreciate her continually staring at my abdomen and asking if I would “still be the same size in August.”

I did find one style that I think will work.  According to Lupita, it’s from Watters & Watters, style number 8231.  I’m not sure how she knew this, as the tags had obviously been cut out of the dress.

Please note: I would like to order this dress in the cream “Candleglow” color, NOT the “Alpine White” that I tried on in the store.  According to Lupita, if the dress arrives in white, I can “just dip it in tea or somethin’.”  While I appreciate her tip, there really won’t be time for this sort of craft project.

When I asked Lupita if the dress would be in by mid-August, she said “no problem.”  She also said “no problem” when I asked if a seamstress would be available to make last minute adjustments.  I will have to take her at her gum-cracking word.

Enclosed please find a check for $125, which should cover the 50% down payment you require to place the order.  I’m just thrilled - I had no idea I could get a Watters & Watters dress for less than $800.  Can’t wait to see it!

To Whom it May Concern:

I am planning a wedding for August 26 and would like to schedule an appointment with one of your dress consultants.

I’ve tried calling your shop on numerous occasions but have only reached your answering machine, even during business hours.  To date, no one has responded to the 12 messages I have left.  Is there a secret code word I should know about?

Looking forward to your recommendations on how to proceed,

Mitzi Dupree

Dear Ms. Dupree,

I received your letter of June 3.  Have you ever heard the phrase “June Bride?”  On a daily basis, I am dealing with at least four hysterical brides claiming that I’m ruining their lives, six overbearing mothers of the bride threatening lawsuits, and countless bitchy bridesmaids who have ordered a size 6 when, in all actuality, their cellulite-pocked asses are closer to a 14.

The last thing I need right now is a snippy letter from someone who has 14 months to order a dress.  I’ve got your secret code: simmer down.

Please call me in July, and I’ll be happy to schedule a consultation.  And, to apologize for the tone of this letter, I’ll be happy to give you 10% off of a tiara purchase.

I’m looking forward to making you beautiful!

Sincerely,

Wanda Mikkelson

Dear Wanda,

Thank you for your prompt reply.  No need to worry about your tone - I’m sure it’s a stressful time.

Perhaps you didn’t understand my previous letter.  When I stated that my wedding is August 26, I meant 2006, not 2007.

Thanks for your discount offer, but I’m not really a “tiara person.”

The clock’s ticking, Wanda - make me beautiful!
