Honey,

I hope you’re having a good day at work.

Executive Chef Catering just called to confirm delivery of 200 box lunches to the house on Friday, August 25th. Are these for your bridesmaid’s luncheon? If so, I’m impressed with how many friends you have.

I’ve gone and done something. You know how upset Mother has been with our “horseshit shindig” as she calls it. Well, Father and I put our heads together and came up with a solution. Are you sitting down? We’re letting Mother host a pre-wedding social event at her club next week. Her friends can attend that function as opposed to traveling here.

Hopefully, this is okay with you – I’ve already committed us. It shouldn’t require more than buying some new dresses and missing a couple of days of work. She didn’t want the children to attend, but I insisted. She thoughtfully offered to provide them with some Benadryl.

I love you,

Joe

Hi Mary – for some reason I got a call this morning confirming the delivery of 200 box lunches to my home address on Friday, August 25th.

I’m sure this was just a slight mix-up – please confirm the above revisions.  Thanks!

I have cancelled your August 25th order for the 200 Super Roast Beef Super Sandwich box lunches and the Audacious Array beverage selection.

Your credit card has been charged with the $350 cancellation fee as per our policy.

Mary – ha ha! My mistake. Seems like I got my catering orders for our National Sales Meeting and a personal event switched around a bit.

Please change the 200 Roast Beef Super Sandwich meals to be delivered to the Allied Animal Nutrition corporate headquarters in Jamestown, no later than 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18th.

Thanks!

Annie – I’m sorry, but I’ve had a little mix-up on the date and location of the catering order I placed with you.  I desperately need to change the order to be delivered on August 25 to the Legacy, CO address.

Thanks!

Hi Mary – I don’t mean to be troublesome, but I didn’t want to actually cancel the order, only change the delivery date and time.  Have you already charged that credit card?

Please note that I just want to amend the order to be delivered to the Allied Corporate Headquarters in Jamestown on Friday, August 18th, no later than 11:00 a.m.  Thanks!

Memo To:  Mitzi Dupree, Allied Animal Nutrition

Memo From:  Mary Listergard, Executive Chef Catering

Subject:  Cancelled Order

As noted in my previous memo, your credit card has already been charged with the $350 cancellation fee, as this order has been cancelled.

We are unable to change the delivery location and date as we are completely booked on August 18th.

Just so you know, I turned down a $15,000 catering order from the Shriner Convention on August 25th, as I thought we would be providing lunches that day for your National Sales Meeting at the Legacy address. But I’m sure my accountants will be thrilled with that $350 cancellation fee, instead.

I have been doing business with your president, Mike Mooney, for 15 years and never once have I had a problem like this. Rest assured that I will be letting him know of my dissatisfaction. There were never any problems like this when I worked with your predecessor.

Mitzi – I have cancelled your order of 20 Watercress Sandwich and Petit Four meals to be delivered to the Allied Animal Nutrition corporate headquarters on Friday, August 18th. Please note that we do have a 20% cancellation fee, as noted on your contract. I have charged your credit card with $60.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to accommodate your request on Friday, August 25. I have secured a large contract with the Shriner’s convention and will be up to my elbows in red frosting. Making 4,000 cupcakes that look like a Shriner’s Fez is my idea of a challenge.

Good luck with your events.

Memo To:  Mitzi Dupree, Director of Marketing

Memo From:  Mike Mooney, President, Allied Animal Health

Subject:  National Sales Meeting

Please be in my office at 4:30 this afternoon with a complete status report for the National Sales Meeting. I expect full documentation on plans for all meals, entertainment, keynote speakers and national press functions. Frankly, I’m concerned that this project is not going to meet Allied Animal Health standards.

The accounting department received an invoice on Wednesday for a “DJ DYNOMITE – It’s Gonna Be a Party Party.” Included with the invoice was requested song list that included “The Chicken Dance” and “My Hump” by the Black Eyed Peas.

I am very interested to learn where you’re planning to utilize the Chicken Dance or My Hump in our corporate agenda, as well as what your plans are for the 100 small bottles of bubbles that were delivered here last week.

Mary Listergard has been a long-time business partner with Allied.  Today, I received a voice mail from her requesting to be removed from our preferred caterers listing.  Do you know anything about this?  I thought Mary was catering our Friday luncheon. As I mentioned earlier, her Roast Beef sandwiches are a tradition around here.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about them.

I’ve asked the CFO and the National Sales Manager to join us at 4:30.  Please be prompt.

Fine – the trip is fine – book it.

I might be a little late getting home tonight.

Do you know how to make roast beef sandwiches?

Dear Carmen,

The last few days I’ve tried to call your store, but I keep getting  a recording that says your phone had been disconnected.  Perhaps it’s just a temporary oversight or a glitch in the system.

Anyway, according to the information you gave me, my dress should have arrived several days ago.  Please feel free to call me at any of the numbers on my contract.  I’m ready to pop down there and pay you the balance.  I’d like to make sure that I have plenty of time to get any necessary alterations done.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
